Haley Harris Morris Chemistry 1110 Lab 6/2/22 Energy Absorbance Lab The overall purpose of the Identification of a Liquid lab was to determine the identity of an unknown substance given. It also helped in working on skills using pipettes, a Bunsen burner, and a scale. The three physical properties measured in lab were density, boiling point, and solubility. When measuring mass, 3 decimal places were recorded, and 3 significant figures were recorded for the boiling point. The density of the unknown liquid was recorded as 0.8079 g/mL. 2.27% was determined to be the density percent error. A few reasons for the percent error could be the amount of accuracy of the scale used, the precision of pipetting the unknown liquid or inaccurate readings of measurements.
