RENEGADO Section: MAIE-ET Insight No.: 15 TITLE: Learning Management System Mr. Peralta discussed Learning Management System (LMS). LMS is being used even before the pandemic due to the convenience it provides not just for students and teachers but also for trainers and trainees in companies. Commonly, an LMS provides venue where people could access learning materials in an organized way. It also shows the progress of learners and their engagement. However, as the use of LMS became more prominent due to the demands of distance learning, more useful features are added such as attendance tracking, assessments, analytics, APIs from third-party apps, conferencing tools, messaging tools, etc. The most common LMS are Google Classroom, Canvas, and Talent LMS. However, there are other popular LMS as well like Schoology, V-smart, and Adobe. In our school, for example, we use Schoology. LMS are very useful. Aside from it organizes learning materials without the risk of losing it due to cloud-computing technology, it also provides various tools that could aid the process of teaching and learning. The best way to illustrate this is to describe Google Classroom. For me, among the three, it is the best one. First, it is specifically designed for education purposes. Second, it has complete tools needed for delivering instructions such as video conferencing tool, courses, gradebook, Student Information System (SIS), progress tracker, attendance, analytics, plagiarism checker, etc. Another thing is, it includes the use of Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides that are very useful for both students and teachers due to a handful of add-ons that can help the teaching and learning process become easier and more interesting. Also, it connects with Gmail that students can use for formal communication, Google Drive for cloud documentation, and other useful Google applications. Lastly, since Google has a very user-friendly User Interface (UI), students have minimal learning curve when it comes to navigating it and they can focus more on learning the content of the course more.
