 Education and career opportunities, personal autonomy and money.
3. What factors have increased the incidence of singlehood?
 Rising divorce rates and cohabitation
4. What is a reason given for the declining perceived advantage of marriage?
 Marriage is no longer the way to gain adult status.
5. What is the relationship between income and singlehood?
 Those with higher incomes are more likely to be single due to the longer career
path they chose.

 Economic depression, unmarried moms and post divorce singles.
7. What are the arguments for and against legal marriage for same-sex couples?
 There are two ways to look at how same-sex marriage bans may violate the 14th
Amendment. The most popular argument cites the Equal Protection Clause,
which guarantees equal protection under all laws to all groups. Another
argument says that no group should be unlawfully denied a fundamental right.
