ATL Skills - Geography 1.ATL - self-management Reviewing / revision tool A revision clock is similar to a mind map as it breaks down the content in to manageable chunks. It also gets students to personalise the revision flash cards to make them more visual and memorable. When they have completed the revision clocks, they can then chunk your topic revision in to 5 or 10 minute slots which will help them to test their understanding little and often. In each segment, students summarise key information required for their revision, using recommended headings (provided by the teacher). They can present this using diagrams, images, graphs, bullet points or just writing. If you want to add challenge to this revision technique, place a 5 or 10 minutes time limit on each segment to be completed. 3 Organizing and reviewing - flashcards ● ● ● Detailed examples from case studies. When examples are used, students should offer some development. Students can use flashcards for a detailed example working in the 5w1h structure. What happened? When did it happen? Where did it take place? Who was involved? Why did it happen? How did it happen? 4 2.ATL - Thinking Elevator pitch An elevator pitch is a very short, concise, compelling, concrete and conversational message, as if you had 60 seconds to explain something to someone you had just met in an elevator. Create your own pitch, then present to the room.
