Cultures influence the way certain aspects and events are perceived, for example in America 9/11 would be a popular flashbulb memory, however in countries such as Lebanon, the Beirut explosion would be a popular FBM. 2. How can this study support Flash bulb memory theory? It supports it because eit ackolwegedes it’s existence e while also giving it aspects to its formation and even furthering the theory by giving it certain criteria to different individuals to have a flashbulb memory formed 3. What are strengths and weaknesses of this study? Strength: supports the FBM Theory , Uses the FBM theory across different cultures Limitations: The study is age specific and only supports a middle age to later in life demographic. 4. FBM can also be formed about positive events. According to Kulkofsky's research, could cultural dimensions influence FBM formation of positive events too? In some ways yes, in other’s no. If we’re looking at this in a cultural perspective then the formation of an FBM on a positive event could correlate with the cultural aspects of positivity, for example on Dia de los muertos and something particularly important that days is achieved for an individual then they would associate the cultural event to the FBM.
