My Business is digital design and production of shoes.
I discovered 3 dimensional shoe design online. After learning shoemaking during my NYSC in the
SAED entrepreneurship programme, I have been designing and building shoes for my friends and
family.
There are few women in the shoe making industry and as it is male dominated I realised that going
digital with my work would give me an edge in the business.
This software product enables me to design shoes from scratch to finish on my computer. I can then
print the designs and use them to cut patterns of my shoe material.
This is a great tool because I can see the finished product before it is even made. I can create a lot of
designs without committing funds and production time to experimentation.
This reduces waste of time, and materials.
BUSINESS PROCESS
My business is the application of digital technology to shoe making. I can create prototypes of shoes
digitally and get feedback on them before we produce. I have digital nesting software to optimise
the materials to use for the shoe so there is reduced wastage. I can also design with precicion
because there is a digital shoe last on my computer that I can edit to custom sizes and proportions to
perfectly fit bespoke customers.
I will use my computer to draw the patterns on the digital last and then flatten the pattern using the
software. This pattern will then be printed and I will use the print to cut my leather for the perfect
fitting shoe.
