PSY 1 INSTRUCTIONS: Review the short video about Cathy https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1032391300844346 Garcia-Molina in this link: Enumerate stories that Cathy shared about her family, friends and professors that help shape the film director in her. Which “lived experiences” did she mention several times in the video? Which “lived experiences” do you think positively influenced her to be a good film director? Cathy Molina made mention of the people that left an impact on her life as she transcended as a film director. Her family, despite not having a direct influence on her pursuit of filming, helped her in a way that when she felt unhappy taking the course she took first before shifting, her family let her shift. That paved the way for her quest for what’s best for her. Subsequently, after shifting and admitting to the University of the Philippines, she met her professors, whom she felt in awe of because of their capabilities, especially the late Director Marilou Diaz-Abaya, among others. As she mentioned, the late director always tells her that "The true gauge of a movie’s success is by the number of hearts you touch," and she lives up to that statement till this day. Additionally, her friends also played an important role in her becoming a film director. She has them as one of her best support systems. She mentioned in the video how she always waits for their feedback on her movies. In the lens of Anthropology, it is clear enough that her development was caused by various factors including her family, friends, and most especially late Director Marilou DiazAbaya. Consequently, among the lived experiences Cathy Molina mentioned in the video, her experiences with the late Director Marilou Diaz-Abaya were mentioned multiple times. From that, I believe that the one thing that positively influenced her to be a good film director were the times director Marilou told her about the true gauge of a movie’s success. Surely, that impacted and resonated with her a lot. It can be observed from the way she describes her successful experiences as a film director, especially when she receives positive comments and feedback from other people.
