The best set of reagents to convert benzene into bromobenzene is (b) Br2, FeBr3
One of electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions is halogenation, specifically chlorination and
bromination. Since halogens are not electrophilic enough to react with the benzene, Lewis acid catalysts
such as ferric halides (FeX3) are used to activate the halogen and become electrophile. In this case, the
use of FeBr3 along with Br2 is the most effective set of reagents for bromination to occur.
