Problem Being Addressed 5- 6 6 7 The main problem to be answered by the study is Why oregano can absorb diesel in ocean contaminated water? The study also sought to answer the following questions 1. How many oregano can clean water contaminated with diesel? 2. How long will it take to absorb the diesel? B. Goals/ Expected Outcomes/ Hypothesis Objective of the Study: Main Objective: To determine if Oregano can absorb diesel in ocean contaminated water. Specific Objective: To determine how long will it take to absorb the diesel. To identify the components of oregano that will absorb the diesel; out of the ocean contaminated water. Hypothesis Oregano has components that will absorb the diesel out of ocean contaminated water. C. Research Instruments In the process the researchers used are seawater, diesel, oregano, container and measuring tools. D. General Procedures A. Gathering of Materials: The researchers gathered materials from their locality. They gathered 150 ml of seawater, 0.66 of diesel, and oregano. They also gathered a container and measuring tools. B.Preparing the Materials and Equipment: The researchers sterilized all the equipment to ensure that there is no microorganisms that will affect the result. C.Contaminating the seawater Put the 150 ml of seawater in a container. Then contaminate it by putting 0.66 ml of diesel. D.Putting the oregano on top of the seawater Put the oregano on top of the contaminated water. E. Observe Observe if the diesel was absorbed by the oregano. Chapter 1 The Problem and Its Background Nowadays, water pollution is becoming a bigger issue. This problem exists all over the world. Water pollution ends up causing harmful side effects on the inhabita- nts in the area that must survive of this water. Many people, including us, regard pollution as a problem that is hard to solve, instead it will get worse and worse as time passes by. Recently our government was tasked to take care of this problem to protect the precious drinking water and seawater, most corporation dump harmful waste near water supplies. At certain times pollution is caused by the on purpose like waste water from oil refineries or accidents also account for water pollution. Water contaminated with oil is a global plague that affects both plants and humans and also for us humans, not just for drinking. It is one of the main sources of food for example is fish. So we decided to use Oregano (Oreganum vulgare) to clean the water by absorbing diesel because it is chemically modified with HNO3 and H3PO4 used as adsorbent for removal of both acids in water thus few of herbaceous plants like this is a bio sorbent. 1 Statement of the problem 1. What is the components of Oregano that will absorb the diesel out of the ocean contaminated water? 2. How many amount of oregano can absorb the diesel? 3. How long will it take to absorb the diesel? Objectives of the Study Main Objective To determine if oregano can absorb diesel in ocean contaminated water. Specific Objectives To determine how long will it take to absorb the diesel. To identify the components of oregano in absorbing diesel in ocean contaminated water. Significance of the Study This study can clean water contaminated with diesel. To the community our water bodies, the animals and plants that live in it will be clean and safe. It is important to us for water bodies like rivers and seas are one of the main sources of our food for example is fish. To the future researchers it will be a great help for them to have an advanced knowledge about a study related to this. Scope and Delimitations This study focuses on cleaning ocean contaminated with diesel using Oregano (Origanum vulgare). Hypothesis The researchers conclude that this study has a posibility to absorb diesel in ocean contaminated water using Oregano (Origanum vulgare). 2 Chapter 3 Methodology Research Design The researchers used an experimental type of design because the research manipulates variables and they’ve conducted different trials. Another type of design used is sequential type of design because you can’t proceed to the other step if you didn’t accomplish the first step. Research Locale The experiment was conducted at Barangay Landy Santa Cruz Marinduque as well as the materials gathered. Materials and Equipments used The materials gathered and used in the study include the following. The materials needed are 15 ml of seawater, 1/8 teaspoon of diesel, oregano, measuring tools and a container. Procedures A. Preparation of materials First the researchers gathered all the materials that are needed which are seawater, diesel, oregano, measuring tools and a container. B. Preparing the set up First put 150 ml of seawater in the container, and then contaminate it by putting 0.66 ml of diesel. Next put some oregano on top of the seawater that is contaminated and investigate if it absorbed the diesel that contaminates the water. Data Gathering The researchers want to use oregano as a bio sorbent to clean ocean contaminated with diesel because it is chemically modified with HPO3 and H3PO4 used as adsorbent for removal for both acids in water thus herbaceous plants like these are bio sorbent. Flow Chart Collecting of the needed materials Preparing the experiment set- up Abstract This investigatory project deals on the preparation and acceptability of Biosorption of diesel in ocean contaminated water using Oregano (Origanum vulgare). This study used fresh oregano leaves as an ingredients/ materials in processing Biosorption of diesel in ocean contaminated water using Oregano (Origanum vulgare) that would clean our ocean. Experimental method was employed in this project. The research was conducted at Barangay Landy Santa Cruz Marinduque within the month of November- December. Biosorption of diesel in ocean contaminated water using Oregano (Origanum vulgare) focused on the ratio of diesel and oregano. A modified material was used and its level of acceptability was evaluate. The results were tabulated and analyzed. Results of the study revealed that oregano leaves is feasible in Biosorption of diesel in ocean contaminated water using Oregano (Origanum vulgare). Based from the results of the study and other benefits the researchers concluded that oregano leaves can be used in Biosorption of diesel in ocean contaminated water using Oregano (Origanum vulgare). It is recommended that follow up studies for further enhance mentor improvement of the study be done.
