Salters-Nuffield Advanced Biology Resources Activity 3.8 Student Sheet THE CELL CYCLE Purpose To understand the role of DNA replication and mitosis in the cell cycle. Procedure Watch the cell cycle interactive tutorial that accompanies this activity or read the Student Book (section 3.2 ‘From one to many: the cell cycle’) before attempting the following tasks. 1 2 Draw on the graph a plot of the quantity of DNA in a cell during the cell cycle. Assume that a cell contains two arbitrary units of DNA just after cell division. Cut out the pictures of the cells below and stick them in the correct boxes in the graph on the right or use a number key. Safety checked, but not trialled by CLEAPSS. Users may need to adapt the risk assessment information to local circumstances. © 2015 University of York, developed by University of York Science Education Group.
