The purpose of this assignment is to conduct research into potential sources related to your
chosen topic. You will need to identify at least FOUR sources, focused in some way on your
topic. Sources may be of any type (webpage, book, newspaper, magazine, journal, blog, video,
podcast, etc.).
Next, read and review the sources. Keep in mind the purpose of this assignment: to summarize
and evaluate the sources you have identified, and to determine which are appropriate, credible,
and reliable for use in an academic, college-level paper.
Getting Started
Review the material in the section titled “Microgenre: The Annotated Bibliography” in Chapter
15 of Writing Today, “Research Papers”, which instructs readers on how to prepare an annotated
bibliography, and which includes a sample paper.
Formatting
For this assignment, you may choose either MLA or APA style, depending on the scholarly field
of your topic. For help choosing, review chapters 27 and 28 in Writing Today.
