Alex Hodges Ms. Koerner English 9 Period: 19 November 2021 The trunk One day in the summer, I was at my house in Old Village, Mount Pleasant, SC. I was going downstairs to my babysitter's car to listen to music while my babysitter was helping my sister get ready. So I thought it would be good to prank my little sister and my babysitter. I had the keys, and I saw the trunk picture on the keys, so I would get in the trunk and jump out and scare my sister and babysitter. I didn't know that she was having maintenance on her car for her trunk because it wouldn’t open on command with the keys. So I got into the trunk, not knowing this, thinking it would be funny. I would test it out, but nothing happened when I pressed the button, so I kept pushing it. So I started to freak out and was thinking, “What if I run out of air? This isn't how I want to die. I am too young”. I then saw the roof thinking I could break the window and then yell for help, but I couldn't break it. I then started to cry and scream, praying for someone to hear me, but no one could. My babysitter and my sister were still inside. I began to kick the trunk, thinking it would open, but it didn't, so I started calming down, thinking I would be here for hours. Next thing you know, I heard them coming downstairs thinking they would open the trunk, so I started screaming again, but they still couldn’t hear me, so I kicked the trunk and shouted, and they began to hear me thinking it was a prank. They finally opened the trunk and saw me crying. I was so relieved to be out of that trunk I started to kiss the ground. My babysitter finally took my sister and me to my cousin's house and told them what had happened. They started to freak out, looking at me and making sure I was ok and had no scratches. They said, “ why don't you three go upstairs and play Xbox '' and we did until my parents got there to pick us up. When they got there, they told them, “Today, your son locked himself in your babysitter’s trunk.” They started to flip out and called for me downstairs. They looked scared to death, and I asked what was wrong. They looked relieved as soon as I walked to them, seeing no signs of me being hurt. They told me I had to write an apology letter to my babysitter when we got home, and we were all good.
