Poverty in Egypt
• In 2021 poverty rate in Egypt was estimated to be 29.3%

• Many patients especially the less financially stable will have multiple
carious teeth
More Durable
• Amalgam has very high compressive strength
• Abrasion Resistance
Long lasting
• If properly restored amalgam can last up to 15 years
• While composite on average might need to be replaced every 5-7
years
In Conclusion:
• Amalgam from a strictly functional point of view makes more sense in
most cases especially for a lot of the Egyptian population
