1. Calculating BMI
First, you have to find out your body weight. Get the answer in kilograms. Once
you have calculated your body weight, convert your height into meters. Just divide
your height in centimeters by 100.
The next step is to divide your weight in kg by the square of your height in meters.
•Less than 18: underweight
•18.5 - 24.9: normal
•25 - 29.9: overweight
•Above 30: obese
2. Determine your ideal body weight
Using Tannhauser method, you can also calculate your ideal body weight.
•Subtract your height in centimeters by 100. The answer in kg will be your body
weight. If your height is 178 cm then your ideal body weight should be 78 kg.
3. Basal Metabolic Rate (Body’s metabolism)
- Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is equivalent to the amount of
energy (in the form of calories) that your body needs to keep
functioning at rest.
- Any increase to your metabolic weight, such as exercise, will
increase your BMR.
- Height, Gender, Age and Weight.
- Computation of BMR using Harris Benedict Formula
4. TDEE is the measure of how many
calories you burn per day.
To determine your total daily calorie
needs, multiply your BMR by the
appropriate activity factor.
On reflection in Anthro:
1.State your observation on your body;
2.The things that you want to achieve;
3.What are the SPECIFIC plans you will do
to achieve your goal?
