Overview of product performance and technical characteristics：
RL-1 catalyst is the trefoil shape catalyst with Ni-W as active components developed by SINOPEC Research
Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) for production of medium or top grade lubricating base oil, rubber
extending oil and white oil from various crudes under medium or high pressure. This catalyst has excellent
balanced hydrogenation function and acid cracking function. It can effectively improve the viscosity Index and
meanwhile keep higher yield of lubricating base oil. Moreover, it has high aromatic saturation activity, high
desulfurization and denitrogenation activity, good stability as well as certain hydroisomerization activity. The
integrated property of RL-1 reaches the international advanced level.
RL-2 catalyst is an improved butterfly shape catalyst with Ni-Mo-W as the active components based on RL-1
catalyst. Compared with RL-1 catalyst, it has higher hydrogenation activity and higher capability to improve the
viscosity index, consequently, the space velocity of RL-2 can be increased by over 20%, or the reaction
temperature decreased by 5-10 C to obtain the same product quality while keeping other reaction conditions the
same.
