1. Define the following terms (3 pts.each)
A. Hospitality
-Hospitality means "Friendly and generous welcome and amusement of guests, visitors, or
strangers".
B. Hospitality Management
- Hospitality management is a vast field that entails overseeing the administrative, operational,
and commercial activities of hospitality firms on a day-to-day basis. Unlike the more narrowly
focused "hotel management," hospitality management is a broad phrase that encompasses a
variety of businesses, including food and beverage, travel and lodging, and event planning.
Maintenance and housekeeping are only a few of the areas that a hotel manager oversees, but
there are many more such as spa services, concierge, and reception.
C. The Hospitality Industry
- This sector is a collection of leisure-oriented fields within the service industry. Food and
beverage, housing, recreation, and travel are the four main segments of the hospitality industry.
D. The Hotel Industry
-The hotel sector is the part of the service industry that deals with guest lodging or
accommodation. By most definitions, the hotel sector include not just hotels, but also hostels,
motels, inns, and guest houses, among other forms of overnight lodging. It does not, however,
usually comprise long-term or permanent accommodations.
E. De Luxe Hotel
- Deluxe refers to something that is particularly special or of exceptional quality. Upgrade to a
luxury hotel room, which will be larger, more comfortable, and most likely have a fantastic view.
F. Standard
- An approved model is something that is considered by an authority or by popular consent as a
comparison point.
G. Economy
-An economy is a broad collection of interconnected production, consumption, and trade
activities that help determine how scarce resources are distributed.
H. Front of the House (Give 3 Examples of Department under FOH)
-Any activity or region of your restaurant that consumers will engage with during their eating
experience is referred to as the "FOH." As a result, your front-of-house environment should be
well-organized, clean, tranquil, and as quiet and pleasant as possible for your guests.
Examples. Head waitress, General manager, and sommelier
I. Back of the House (Give 3 Examples of Department under BOH)
- Any action or region of your restaurant that consumers will not engage with (or even see)
throughout their eating experience is referred to as the "BOH."
Example. Dishwasher, sous chef, and kitchen manager
2. What are the Characteristics of Hospitality Industry? (10pts)
- Intangible, perishable, inseparable, simultaneous, variable, shift labor, and visitor satisfaction
are all aspects of the hospitality industry. In the hotel sector, intangible service characteristics are
those that cannot be seen or touched but may be felt.
3. What is the health and safety protocol of hotel as far as the room accommodation
is concern according to Department of Tourism, Philippines? (60 pts)
- The Philippines Department of Tourism (DOT) ensures that tourism stakeholders follow the
World Health Organization (WHO) and Department of Health's guidelines and precautionary
measures in the interest of everyone's health and well-being (DOH). The DOT also actively
promotes simple yet beneficial habits that the general public can adopt to help stop Covid-19 from
spreading.
The World Travel and Tourism Council has awarded the DOT the use of the Safe Travels Stamp
in recognition of our efforts to conform with worldwide standards for health, safety, and hygiene
(WTTC).
The WTTC's Safe Travels Stamp, which was created in response to the Covid-19 outbreak, allows
travelers to identify places that satisfy international health and safety requirements, allowing
visitors to travel with confidence.
