PD Instruments Portable Switchgear PD Solutions IPEC Ltd is a specialist engineering company based in the industrial heart of the United Kingdom, who are well renowned technological innovators within the of electrical engineering industry. Formed in 1995, the company has made great advancement in its field and IPEC are now leading specialists in Online Partial Discharge (PD) detection and location, for MV, HV and EHV cables, switchgear and accessories. Partial discharge is generally accepted as the predominant cause of long term degradation and eventual failure of electrical insulation. As a result, its measurement is standard procedure in the factory testing of many types of high voltage equipment. In addition, partial discharge activity can be tested for or monitored on in-service equipment to warn against pending insulation failure. IPEC currently have a live network of over 150 Permanent PD monitoring Systems - monitoring over 5,000 electricity assets worldwide. IPEC’s mission is to bring innovation, expertise, and outstanding products and services to the electricity supply industry. A goal IPEC continually reaches for through cutting-edge Research and Development, Knowledge Consolidation, and Listening to and Understanding customer needs and demands Paral Discharge Instruments A significant proporon of disrupve failure in substaon assets can be prevented through PD tesng. Periodic tesng of electrical assets means that a potenal fault can be detected and repaired before it becomes a risk to engineers or the surrounding environment. All IPEC products are designed and manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 standards. IPEC have a dedicated team of highly skilled engineers, who are able to bring innovave ideas from concept to final product. IPEC only work with carefully selected partners, ensuring the highest quality in Brish product manufacturing. PD-SGS PD Detector PD-SG1 TEV PD Detecon Paral discharge acvity inside metal clad high voltage plant induces small voltage impulses called Transient Earth Voltages on the surface of the metal panels. TEVs travel around the surface to the outside of the switchgear, where they can be picked up externally using a PD detector. Ultrasonic PD Detecon Defects on the surface of high voltage insulators are prone to a phenomenon known as surface tracking. Tracking causes carbon deposits that build up over me, ulmately leading to flashover and insulaon failure. IPEC’s PD instruments are highly sensive to the ultrasonic emissions produced by tracking and enable the on-set to be detected before insulaon failure. Our Range Detecon Verificaon Locaon Level Mode is used to detect presence of both TEV and Ultrasonic acvity PRPD enables the user to verify PD acvity is genuine and not from electrical noise Dual sensor precedence mode allows users to pin point the source of the PD acvity online, to a resoluon of 8 cm With the PD Detector, you can also save PD Data PD-SGS PD Detector PD-SG1 PD-SGS PD-SGS is a dual transducer PD detector for switchgear. The instrument detects TEV signals generated by internal discharge, as well as acousc discharge generated by surface tracking or corona. The device can measure TEV signals generated by internal PD and it uses ultrasonic detecon of surface PD acvity. The PD-SGS has an integrated noise detecon algorithm to avoid false posives. Level mode and trend mode can be heard through audible output, through headphones or built in speaker. What’s in the Box? The instrument detects TEV signals generated by internal paral discharge as well as acousc discharge generated by surface tracking or corona. A mobile device receives data directly from the instrument for display and synchronizaon with a central server. The user can log trend PD acvity against parcular assets and it can generate automac ‘high PD’ alerts to a management team live from site. What’s in the Box? The unit detect TEV signals generated by internal discharge, as well as acousc discharge generated by surface tracking or corona. The system uses two channels to acquire TEV signals, enabling accurate locaon of PD in switchgear. The PD-SG1 has three modes: Level Mode, used to detect presence of both TEV and ultrasonic acvity; Cycle Mode, Phase Resolved Paral Discharge Display (PRPD) enables the user to verify PD acvity is genuine and not from electrical noise interference before taking further remedial acon; Precedence Mode, dual sensor precedence allows users to pin-point the source of PD acvity.
