TITLE OF PROJECT:
Enhancing ICT Adaption, Service, Content and Digital Skills for Smallholder Farmers.
(ICT4FARMERS)
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES OF THE ACTIVITY:
UNFFEICT4Farmers is a project developed for small holder farmers to address the
issues faced along the value chain. The system is designed to solve and address the
issues faced during the different stages of production for the farmers which are preproduction, (the first stage) production (the second stage) and post-production (the
third stage). We understand that at every stage there are different stakeholders and
activities with their challenges and UNFFEICT4Farmers is designed to address these
issues.
UNFFEICT4Farmers training. This program was to skill the farmers and other value
chain actors on how to use the system and there after they will be the training agents
of the farmers and the trainers of the farmers to accelerate system usability.
The activity was intended to train and skill the smallholder farmers and other value
chain actors on how to use UNFFEICT4Farmers mobile app/web system.
SUB-ACTIVITIES IMPLEMENTED AND VENUE(S):
Training was on how to use the following mobile app services:Market access service, Farm location, resource booking, agro input services, farmers, service
provider, sellers registrations, resource sharing, farm record management, advisory services
and Enterprise selection.


The current situation of COVID 19 has left the sector with no other option but to
embrace ICT.

HOW IT WORKS.
How it works.
UNFFEICT4Farmers is an android mobile app available on google
play store. The app is designed to run on android mobile phones
and tablets version 5.1 and above. The UNFFE android Mobile app
allows farmers and other value chain actors to do the following: Community daily weather.
 Market access services.
 Farmers and farm profiling.
 Garden mapping.
 Input and output service provider and services.
 Resources sharing.
 Farm management, service management, and advisory
services.
UNFFEICT4Farmers can be accessed through the web browser on a
laptop, computer and any mobile device that can access the internet
using the app.unffeict4farmers.org. The web system is designed to
have all the features of the system and thus mainly used by the
system administrators and regulators. The system have the
following features: Farmer profiling.

The IVR Call Centre is a toll free service that is designed to offer
helpline services to farmers and other value chain actors. The call
Centre can be used by dialing 0800209003. The call Centre supports
five different language choices which are: English.
 Luganda.
 Swahili.
 Runyakitara.
 Luo.
The call Centre service is an avenue for the quickest solutions and
response to farmers’ issues.
