Tittle: EFFECTIVENESS OF INTERNET UTILIZATION IN PROMOTING TOURISM SECTOR. BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM Since internet was introduced in the world, there were many reasons for the different types of organization to subscribe to this service that enable the connection to the internet. Some organization like to use electronic mail which cheap and faster compared to the conventional mail, other like to access the chat services and bulletin board services where it helps facilitate the communication with other similar interest. As the result of the internet communication (which make the world as one) many business organization have adopted this computerized communication system so as achieve high performance of their business operation. Tanzania as one of the developing countries has engaged in the use of internet and this has made some improvements to the nation as well as at individual level though not to the expected extent. The first computer in Tanzania, an ICT 1500, was installed in the Ministry of Finance in 1965. By 1974 there were seven computers in the country and the Ministry of Finance had already acquired a new computer, an ICL 1900. The introduction of computers was beset by problems in almost all installations. All computer hardware in Tanzania is imported. Currently there are no plans to assemble within the country, and this situation seems likely to continue. Effective use of Computer networks and the Internet technology is considered a major determinant of competitive advantage, market penetration, innovation, technology transfer, and even management competency. In the Business arena, customers will engage in Internet commerce when they feel that they are getting a better deal. The ultimate question about Internet commerce, success may be more a function of customers ’belief and perception of the net value of the benefits and costs of both a product and the processes of; sending, ordering, and receiving it. Computer networks and the Internet have often been referred to as “the technology that has changed the world” (Lucas 1999). It is clear that the internet continue to revolutionize every sector and aspect of our lives, for example, contribution provided by internetworking in business organizations includes: New ways to design organizations, Creates new relationships between customers and management, Change the basis of competition, Enables tremendous efficiencies in production and services, Provide mechanism through groupware for coordinating work and creating knowledge base of organization, Provides the manager with electronic alternatives to face-to-face communications and supervision. This research is going to describe and analyze the role of internet in improving productivity in manufacturing company. The theoretical framework guiding this study is “the effective of internet utilization in promoting business sector”. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Effective of internet utilization in promoting business sector is very essential to every modern organization. Nowadays as internet help to facilitate easy communication within and outside organization, it provides services such as electronic mail, chat and bulletin services, and also some organization make use of it in order to obtain vast database of information in every topic imaginable. Before the advent of computers and internet, all business activities i.e. advertising, buying and selling were manually done through magazines, newspapers, journals and books or need someone to move from one place to another for either buying or selling products or services. This means did not satisfy many people because not all the people will be reading those journals. Thus, there is a huge need of improving the advertisement and promotion of business of any country to the world using Electronic means that is internet. The use of electronic e-commerce in Tanzania is growing very slowly compared to the developed countries due to different factors, hence we need to improve and emphasize on using this kind of networking for better success. Though internet services are growing faster and faster, many developing nations have not yet achieved this computerized communication system. Tanzania is among these countries have not yet exploited this computerized communication system. Therefore, Internet services in organization need to be designed according to its standard set out to control the operational effectively in the organization. In the light of technological development in the world-distinguished by the increased usage of computers in most business operations, coupled with the power of computer networks and the increased use of the Internet; there’s a critical challenge facing our nation due to the fact that we are one of poorest countries in the world and for years we have been lagging behind in technological terms compared to other African countries as well as other countries in the world. Until recently most business institutions in Tanzania were manually operated and services offered were too slow; however, since the 1990’s most businesses have been computerized and this means that computer networks and the internet are transforming the world’s economy. They are radically changing how people live, learn, work, play, and consume. At the center of this revolution is Information Technology (IT). Information Technology (IT) has moved from the “back office” to the front line; namely the Interface between the customer and the firm has changed dramatically and increasingly; Information Technology (IT) is shifting the firm’s relationships with its customers from a “face-to-face” to a “screen-to-face” interaction. LITERATURE REVIEW INTERNET The internet is a globally connected network system facilitating worldwide communication and access to data resources through a vast collection of private, public, business, academic and government networks. The terms internet and World Wide Web are often used interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same thing; the internet refers to the global communication system, including hardware and infrastructure, while the web is one of the services communicated over the internet. According to The internet book written by Douglas E. Comer published on august 2018. The internet was brought to the public on a larger scale at around this time. Since then, the Internet has grown and evolved over time to facilitate services like Email, Web-enabled audio and video conferencing services, Online movies and gaming, Data transfer/file-sharing often through File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Instant messaging, Internet forums, Social networking, Online shopping and Financial services. As a global network responsible for vast amounts of data transfer and process facilitation, the Internet is constantly evolving. For instance, an initial protocol called IPv4 distributing Internet Protocol (IP) addresses has largely been replaced by a new IPv6 model that will increase the number of addresses available for each continent around the globe. INTERNET ULTILIZATION is the amount of information transferred over your internet connection (web browsing, checking email, downloading and uploading files, streaming audio and video.) Different online activities transfer different amounts of information. All the devices connected to the internet within your home contribute to usage including desktop computers, notebook computers, smart phones, tablet computers, iPods and gaming consoles. In now days there is high number of people who have access to the internet this due to the improvement of technology and affordable price of mobile phone, desktop and laptop. TOURISM There are a number of ways tourism can be defined, and for this reason, the embarked on a project from 2005 to 2007 to create a common glossary of terms for tourism. It defines tourism as follows: Tourism is a social, cultural and economic phenomenon which entails the movement of people to countries or places outside their usual environment for personal or business/ professional purposes. These people are called visitors (which may be either tourists or excursionists; residents or non-residents) and tourism has to do with their activities, some of which imply tourism expenditure (United Nations World Tourism Organization, 2008). Using this definition, we can see that tourism is not just the movement of people for a number of purposes (whether business or pleasure), but the overall agglomeration of activities, services, and involved sectors that make up the unique tourist experience. Types of tourism There are three basic forms of tourism: domestic tourism, inbound tourism, and outbound tourism. Domestic tourism is kind of tourism where by people move from one place to another within their country and outside of their home for reassure, pleasure or study example people move from moshi to manyara nation park Inbound tourism is kind of tourism where by visitor from outside of country for reassure, pleasure or study. Example people come in side our country from different country. Outbound tourism is kind of tourism where by a resident visitor outside of their country for different purpose like pleasure and study example people move from Tanzania to Kenya.
