Jitesh Bachani STATEMENT OF PURPOSE I would consider myself blessed to be born and brought up in a family that started from scratch. My father's hard work and persistence guided us to a more refined standard of living. They allowed me to write this essay as part of my application to one of the most acclaimed universities across the world. My initial educational days were challenging when my parents decided to send me to a boarding school named The Scindia School in Gwalior after I completed my 5th grade. It was an existent struggle living away from home, where I was always dependent on my parents. Still, it accepted the change over time as I started noticing myself grow and develop into a more mature and independent. I learned the most effective time management and gratitude values during my school days. After I wrote my 12th-grade exams in 2017, I started teaching about 7-8 students from an unprivileged background in an NGO named Gramiksha in Gwalior. Although I expected it to be a cushy task, my perception seemed to change once I started working inside the classroom. It was a challenge to engage the students and make them understand the topics due to their diametrical backgrounds and different perception of the education system. Most of the kids were there only for the free lunch that the NGO had promised, while very few of them showed the zeal to learn; this certainly made me question and doubt my efforts and if I could bring about any change. After a few days, I was planned to discontinue my work at the school. But soon, it was more like a coincidence that one of the parents came up to me and expressed her emotions of how happy he was to see her daughter talk in English. The parent used to work at a construction site nearby and has always wanted his daughter to get educated to have a life of comfort. It certainly changed my mind, and it struck me that I should work harder and try to bring about a change rather than give up. My journey at Gramiksha was full of amazements; I would have willingly been a part of the NGO if I didn't have to leave for Mumbai for my degree in commerce specializing in banking and insurance. Bachelors in Commerce (Banking and Insurance) helped me build a foundation in accountancy and finance while crafting my management skills. Subjects like financial reporting analysis, business law, research methodology, quantitative methods and along with various others helped me understand the industry set up in a much panoramic sense and challenged me to grow in a space where I could use my knowledge and skills to solve a problem persisting to an area of business. During my second year of under-graduation, I started investing in shares and mutual funds, which provided me with a significant amount of practical knowledge about the financial market. I inculcated the habit of reading business-oriented books to broaden my perspective and increase my scope of business and finance. Apart from fetching academics and industry knowledge, my college life consisted of several extracurricular activities where I did a diploma in acting and theatre at Barry John Acting Studio, represented the college in many fashion shows(securing a position in the top three in most of the competitions), attended several dance workshops. I also developed a keen interest in global business and sustainability through attending webinars and seminars. I started working with my father in his real estate business, named Richa developers for a few months in 2020 after my college to gather more insight on the business perspective after my under-graduation. My experience combined challenges and excitement. Before acquiring any land, we used to do market research to understand the demand of the particular area, understand the permits required in the locality for construction and calculate the return on investment. After finalization, we had to hire a contractor for construction, start the marketing and sales engines as soon as our money started rolling in. I learned the art of time management and leadership skills through the process as I witnessed a delay of a few days cost us a financial disagreement. After my forever-delayed sixth semester exam during the covid-19 scenario, while everyone Jitesh Bachani STATEMENT OF PURPOSE was waiting to receive their degree documents so that they could apply for full-time jobs, I was fortunate enough to seek an internship opportunity at Olivers System as a business analyst intern from January to March 2021. I worked closely with management to infer and cater to the requirements of our clients. During my time at Oliver's, we worked on a government project, building a national highway that required our sound system to make announcements. This hybrid internship provided me with a different experience as the work was not spoon-fed to me and needed clarification from my end through internet articles and papers. I learned the importance of networking and transparency in business at Oliver's. In August 2021, I joined Deloitte India as a risk analyst to utilize my skills as a finance student. My work as a risk and financial advisory analyst consists of performing internal audit and assurance activities, consulting with engagement leadership on strategic plans and other business matters, and helping to anticipate emerging risks. Over time it has helped me utilize my problem solving and critical thinking skills and enhance my technology and business skills. I have become an integral part of my team. At Deloitte, I love taking the initiative and am always curious to learn new things. At your esteemed university, I wish to grow and learn in an environment where I face challenges regularly and find ways to get through them. I look forward to a surrounding where everyone is ready to learn from each other apart from the program. Be in a classroom where magic is created with innovative ideas and meaningful discussions. I look forward to job opportunities in the United Kingdom after graduation in the financial sector. I plan on coming back to my home country after a few years of experience to start my social venture to create a positive impact in my country. I wish to establish schools for the young minds in need through the social venture. My father and I plan to take Richa Developers forward; we plan to start a new segment to offer affordable homes to people in need of shelter. For profitability, we shall continue working in the commercial space. University of Warwick’s MSc Finance is a tailor-made program as it offers me a comprehensive understanding of fundamentals throughout its core curriculum. With a heap of valuable work experience and a voracious desire to learn and grow. I am confident that I will be a good fit for your reputed institution.
