PROJECT
WRITE A SPEECH
Grade 12
An informative speech is a type of
speech that is delivered to inform the
audience about a particular topic.
WRITE AN
INFORMATIVE SPEECH,
THEN RECORD IT.
It is an interesting task as you are
teaching people about a specific
topic. These types of speeches use
vivid descriptions to make complex
topics easy to understand. The aim
of an informative speech is to
educate the audience and help them
understand the information that you
are presenting.
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO
GIVE A SPEECH ABOUT?
• This term focuses on how people find freedom in a society that
oppresses them. For this project , you will write a speech. Gather
information from a number of different, valid sources about a
specific topic (such as racism) and write about what you have
discovered. For an example of a well-written research report you
can use as a mentor text, review the selection Hidden Figures.
• Organize Your Ideas After you have researched your topic, you
need to organize your ideas. In your introduction, you will state
your thesis. You will also introduce the event, person, or people
you have chosen. The body of your report can be a narrative,
told in chronological order. Or it can be several important ideas,
supported by details. In your conclusion, you summarize your
speech. You might include a statement about the overall
importance of your topic; or questions that remain unanswered.
