1. Use a homebuilt lighting device with 12 blue LEDs (450 nm) for irradiation and drive at
48 V and 0.9A yielding a light intensity of ca 4 W/cm2 at a distance of 12 mm.
2. Irradiate 6 ml samples with a concentration of about 0.2 mmol L-1 for 4 h in a glass tube
with diameter 25 mm and provide with a magnetic stirrer.
3. Perform the anaerobic experiments with tubes that underwent three freeze thaw cycles
before irradiation.
4. Thermostat the tubes in a water bath at 70 °C to avoid uncontrol heating by the LED
device.
5. Take the distance from the vessel wall to the lamp is 12 mm.
