Digestive System The digestive system is made up of organs that are important for digesting food and liquids. Good To Know ● The liver filters the blood in the body and breaks down poisonous substances and produces bile, a fluid that helps digest fats and carry away waste. ● In the stomach, the food is churned up into a creamy liquid called chyme. Good To Know ● The small intestine breaks down food from the stomach and absorbs much of the nutrients from the food. ● The large intestine absorbs water and changes the waste from liquid into stool.
