Statement of Purpose Computers and technology is most near and dear to me . I believe to have seen the tech-world evolve alongside me as I grew up. It all started with randomly pressing and playing with the keys of keyboard as a toddler, and eventually led to a full-fledged passion for a career in Computer Science. Even during my foundation years at school, I found myself cling towards math problem-solving questions, I.T applications tasks and I thoroughly enjoyed the concept and the practicality that goes into computer programming. Having excelled in core topics in Math, Physics, and various computer languages I strongly believe that computer science, particularly, is the right choice of career path for me. Owing to this inclination of mine to tech, I devoted my hours to master my coding skills during the difficult times of the Coronavirus outbreak. Taking into consideration today's modern technology-trends, I feel like Computer Science and domains like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are becoming an indispensable part of our lives. Having said so, these stem from logical thinking and problem solving, which I find very intriguing. I have adapted quite well to this domain by having a strong well-laid foundation in the Science stream during my high school years. I strongly feel if given a chance to research my capabilities, I can contribute effectively to this fast-developing world of technology while also expanding my knowledge in scientific acumen. I have completed my schooling from The Asian School, Dehradun as boarder with an aggregate percentage of 92.4 % in Senior Secondary Certificate examination and 97.4% in Higher secondary certificate examination in Science stream. While studying in this stream for over two years is where my interest in concepts like Artificial Intelligence and Computing built up. Moreover, I am curious and always keen on learning more! I had attended a couple workshops at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, there I invested in getting hands-on approach in this domain and it’s key principles. Evidently, Artificial Intelligence is the future of technology and I’m devoting my hours in polishing my base to lead in this fascinating vertical. I also represented my school as the head girl in my final year, possessing great leadership and management skills. I personally believe that discipline shapes our direction of career, and having experience in these I will not disappoint or deviate from my long-term motive of a successful career in Computing Science. During these unprecedented times of the Coronavirus pandemic, I learned to make most of the present with the time in my hands. Having said that, being optimistic I made good use of the lockdown, by spending quality family time while simultaneously working on developing a skill set that would help make me more independent as a female. I focused on learning computer languages which will eventually help me with my choice of course abroad. I also volunteered at an NGO, which is something I take pride in because community service is very crucial in today's time. All in all, focused on things in a more holistic view. Technology has changed our lives for the better, as every bit of it is now just a click away! Say, if you want to ask for a weather report, the answer simply is “Alexa…”, want to start your cell phones by face recognition it’s again via technology or shopping from Amazon, all these are done through AI and Data Science. These factors fascinated me to pursue my under graduate degree in Computing Science as my majors from Canada. This would provide a strong base in technology, research and development. Furthermore, it would also open a gateway of opportunities for me with lucrative pay packages. Canada is a multicultural country and stands among one of the most high-quality education systems so a degree earned there will be widely recognized. My simple reason for choosing Simon Fraser University (SFU) was its astounding rankings in various fields. Besides the wide-course selection, I was specifically looking for a Computer Science degree with a specialisation in Artificial Intelligence along with co-op opportunities and I consider SFU is the right fit for me, as it produces well qualified, innovative engineers with latest technology savvy attitude. The curriculum is in-depth, subjects like Calculus and Computing networks & communications are of keen interest to me. It also develops effective communication skills in budding engineers. Moreover it would be an honour to study under the expert guidance of highly professional faculty at SFU. as they expertise in research and experimentation .Getting an under graduate degree from SFU will be highly regarded in the Indian tech-sector which will, in turn, expand my horizon of job opportunities. After the completion of my degree from SFU my short term goal is to work with reputed companies like Google, Ericsson and IBM, etc., as a program developer and/or an A .I engineer. I’m aware it requires exposure, knowledge, confidence, thus I look forward to my under graduate degree which will assist me in achieving my desired goals. My long term goal is to be an entrepreneur, start up an enterprise with Deep Learning and A.I as a base and something to do with Human-Robot interaction which will indefinitely thrive in the foreseeable future. India, being a developing country will be a prime consumer of this cutting-edge technology, so I feel this degree abroad will really amplify my skills and intentions of starting a base of my own, here in my home country. I strongly feel that this degree will pave the way for new opportunities for me, enabling me to put my in depth knowledge and skills to great and productive use. As mentioned before, after acquiring an under graduate degree in computer science, I intend to become a valuable asset to my home country eventually after returning back. My dream is to come up with some concrete start-up which will help me in raising my standards of living as well as to provide employment opportunities for others. Studying overseas will not only give me a great range of professional skills but also a much broader and international perspective which will indeed help me set myself up in the Computing Industry here in India. ******
