FINAL RESEARCH PAPER A Brief Analysis on the Factors Affecting Natural Population Growth in China SUBJECT: GEOGRAPHY CLASS: G12 STUDENT: JASPER LI ACADEMIC TUTOR: REYNASOL BUTIONG 2021/1/16 Abstract The population is one of the essential elements of a country. The change of population affects the population, population structure and production and labour structure, and then affects economic development and social progress. Studying population growth, analyzing the influencing factors, and formulating reasonable population policies are particularly important for economic development and social progress. 1 Introduction The proper growth of the population is a significant issue affecting the country's development. Therefore, rational analysis of the factors affecting population growth is the key to formulating a reasonable population policy. The increase of population in a country or region results from the combined effect of natural and mechanical changes but usually depends on the natural growth rate. The natural growth rate of the population is an important indicator reflecting the speed of population development and the formulation of a population plan and an essential indicator in family planning statistics. It shows the degree and trend of natural population growth. It refers to the ratio of natural population growth (births minus deaths) in a certain period to the average population in that period. It is calculated in years as the unit. It is expressed in the thousandth ratio. The level of natural population growth depends on the relative level between birth rate and mortality. It is a comprehensive index reflecting population reproduction activities. The factors affecting the natural growth of the population include social factors and natural factors. Social factors include political factors, economic factors, science and technology, medical treatment, military factors, culture, education, religion, gender ratio. Natural factors include geological, meteorological and climatic factors. This research study aims to spotlight the status of the population in China and factors that affect its natural growth. 2 3
