These are widely accepted
beliefs that something is
worthwhile and desirable
example : Human life is important.
people should do good for
society
Thailand values freedom , family ,
respect the older , the
compromise etc.
Norms
Norm are values put into practice
they are specific behavior that
apply in specific social situation
example :
How to eat
How to dress
How to answer
in certain situation
Norms also different in gender
Custom
Traditional and regular forms of
behavior associated with specific
social situation
example :
Don't Touch The Head. It is
important part of body
Take Off Shoes before entering
place
Do not make people feeling
humiliated or disrespected
Statuses
People's position in society
there are 2 types of statuses
1.. Ascribed status - status you got
since you were born , usuallt by
biology and inheritance
eg. Gender , race
2. Archieved status - status you got
or attain through education, job,
marriage etc.
Roles
Society expects thoes of the
status to behave in particular
way
A set of Norms will be associated
with Roles
eg. roles of teachers is expected to
take care to students and be
professional in the teaching.
