Look for medicinal plants in your backyard and take a photo of each plant.
Post them in your timeline with your own written story about the importance of
biodiversity/plant as medicine. Each photo posted must have a scientific name,
local name and uses.
Choose two (2) questions and elaborately answer.
A. What do you think is the most common human activity that greatly harms
biodiversity? What alternative way/s can you suggest to avoid or limit the activity
to prevent its harmful effects?
The common human activity that greatly harms biodiversity is illegal logging of
trees. It is the most common human activity, for me, because we are all aware that
the population growth is totally increasing. Many give births to their young ones as
the new member of today’s generation despite of the fact that there’s a scarce
resources that we have to sustain human survival and other biodiversity.
Therefore, along with the unstoppable growing number of people, many need to
construct infrastructures to provide each families a shelter to dwell. So as the
need of shelters increases many trees were cut and never been replaces
afterwards. As a result, other species like birds in the forest becomes homeless
thus, leads to the extinct of this species. Moreover, human being suffers from
natural disasters such as soil erosion, flash floods and landslide as an effect leads
to losses of many people’s lives. Therefore, to avoid this unwanted results we
need not to tolerate illegal logging activity. Instead, as an alternative, architects
and engineers may come to the idea of building infrastructures that will minimize
deforestation from this illegal loggers. Lastly, as part of this environment we
should start avoid harming our environment for such needs that becomes too
much out of little things that we had and must always in still in our mind that we
must protect our ecosystem, maintain its beauty and let it flourish for the future
time.
B. What are the three (3) small ways that you think would promote the
safekeeping of our biodiversity? Explain.
Due to our unlimited needs and growing population, we almost forgot how to
wisely allocate our scarce resources. To promote safekeeping of our biodiversity,
the three small ways that I think may help are the following: 1) Proper Waste
Disposal,2) Reforestation, and 3)Gardening.
It is somehow timely that mostly everyone today are staying at home, so it
must be the time that our attention must be occupied by different chores at home
to prevent anxiety brought by this pandemic. Therefore, I have realized that
Gardening as one of my little way to help promoting the safe keeping of our
biodiversity must take place. Aside from planting small plants it may be somehow
our way also to plant trees that could give us fresh air and shelter for different bio
species in our society. Also, by doing these things, why don’t we also practice
proper waste disposal even just in our homes. Cleaning our backyard and putting
some holes where we could properly segregate our garbage's serves as big help
to lessen continuous destruction of our environment.
