“Leadership is not always needed for successful organizational performance”, remarked Raymond
upon being introduced to Daniel who had just ended a three weeks leadership training. At that
moment Banda interjected and argued “I think different kinds of people need different forms of
leadership”.
If you were in the situation of Daniel, how would you address the following:
 With reference to organizational behavior and leadership theories and research publications,
explain whether there are instances which render leadership unnecessary.
 Explain how the readiness of followers influence the appropriateness of leadership style
adopted?

You need to clearly support your position by reference research publications and theories. Do not
simply quote authors but explain the value of each citation made.

Remember that pure description and paraphrasing is not sufficient. A good essay will clearly take
an analytical approach. Avoid mere copy and paste presentation. It is your explanations and
demonstration of your understanding that is valued.
 The assignment essay (discussion part) should be not less than 3 pages and not more than 4
pages. The page count relates to the discussion only, and therefore, excludes the bibliography
and cover page. Do not isolate introduction or conclusion by allocating them separate pages. On
your cover page, you should indicate the total number of words used. After the cover page
provide a page for writing down the question details.
 In terms of structure, presentation and style you ensure:
Harvard style referencing is used (which includes in-text citations plus a reference list). All
references must be from credible sources such as books, industry related journals, and recent
academic articles.
Your grade will be adversely affected if your assignment contains no/poor citations and/or reference
list and also if your assignment word length is beyond the allowed tolerance level.
