Dear xx, I am currently pursuing my MBA from Fuqua business school. I am confident that my analytical insights and penchant for being systematic and methodical, along with my leadership experience and initiatives, will help me excel at BCG. Before I began my MBA journey, I served as a structural engineering consultant for three years, supporting several of the world’s busiest airports, including JFK, DCA, and PHL, with new or renovated terminals and creative engineering solutions. As a young, energetic engineer, I always kept an open mind to the rapidly changing world, built on new skills, and enjoyed taking on new challenges. While providing traditional engineering design services, I was always curious about how technology could change the design process. I constantly took initiative to identify inefficient actions and create digital tools to increase productivity. That was also when I started to sharpen my skills in some programming languages, including Python. From working solo to leading an engineering team of five, I inspired my peers to propose and implement digital workflows on different projects, turning the DC office into one of the most innovative offices across the company. I am always a learner and never stop pursuing new knowledge. One year before coming to Fuqua, I decided to take on a new challenge after taking several online courses in algorithms and machine learning. I found an opportunity to engage in several research projects that would enable the adoption of machine learning in the traditional railway industry. I led the project and designed an optimization model for a demand-responsive transportation service to minimize the resources required for the system, resulting in a 95% fulfillment rate while keeping the case under budget. My experience working as an engineering consultant enables me to understand the architectural engineering industry and realize what types of challenges the industry is currently facing. I would love to utilize my adaptability and problem-solving aptitude to help more industries adapt to digital time better. Meanwhile, I wish to explore more opportunities in a wide variety of sectors and broaden my horizons. After talking to Anne and George from the BCG Seattle office, I was glad to learn that the Seattle office is a close-knit community similar to team Fuqua. I was also extremely impressed by the investment BCG makes into the career development of its staff. I am confident that I would thrive at BCG, and I would be honored to join your team. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you. Best, Jen
