I. Objective
At the end of 40 minutes 38 out of 42 First year students will be able to:
a.) define the exact meaning of verb,
b.) identify the verb with the help of cut out pictures, and
c.) determine the kinds of verbs.

Materials:
Cut out pictures
Manila paper
Marker or chalk
III. Teaching / Learning Procedures:
A. Routinely Matters
1. Prayer
2. Attendance
B. Introduction
1. Our lesson for this day is about verb and its kinds and its functions.
2. I will pick a couple of students to go in front of the class to identify
the action done on those pictures I posted on the board.
3. As you can see, those pictures on the board show an action.
Therefore class, we can say that Verb refers to an action word. There are
two kinds of Verbs according to its use. The first one is Transitive verb and
the second one is Intransitive verb.
C. Interaction
Asking some question regarding the subject matter.
Show some other picture that shows action word.
Show some illustration for student guidelines.
D. Integration
I will pick a couple of students to go in front of the class to
determine if each underlined verb is transitive or intransitive. Write your
answer on the blank after each statement.
Reflection shows a picture that describes action word and the other
thus not show action word differentiate the two pictures
IV. Evaluation
And now class, kindly get 1/2 sheet of paper.
Direction: Determine if each underlined verb is transitive or intransitive.
Write your answer on your paper.
V. Assignment:
 In a clean short bond paper print at least 10 pictures that show
an action word.
 Study in advance the Regular and Irregular Verbs.

 Ask the students if they really understand the past

Motivation
 Introduce the game “Guess the Word” game by giving a
sample.
 Play the “Guess the Word” game.
 Let the students guess the word.
 Ask someone from the class to guess the word.
C.
Activities
 Divide the class into two groups.
 Each group will follow the instruction given in the activity.
 The teacher will check the work of each group.
D.
Abstraction
 Proceed to the next lesson which is Vocabulary
Enhancement.
 Ask the learners about their ideas in Vocabulary
Enhancement.
 Introduce the meaning of Vocabulary Enhancement.
 Introduce the Vocabulary in Context or Context Clues.
 Discuss the context clues and its type.
E.
Application
The teacher let the students read the question on the screen
and let them answer each number.

Assessment
The students will answer the given statement by finding the
words using vocabulary in context.

Give an example for each type of context clues:




Rewording the word.
Giving its Synonym.
Giving its Antonym.
Giving Details about it.
