1848 - In this year, Teodora
Morales Alonso-Realonda y Quintos
and Francisco Rizal-Mercado y
Alejandra - Jose Rizal's parent was
married on the 28th of June.
1870-1875 - At the age of
nine, ose begins school under the
instruction of Justiniano Aquin
Cruz. In 1871, he continues his
education under the instruction
of Lucas Padua. A year after,
Rizal is examined by those in
charge of college entrance to St.
Tomas University in Manila; he
enters the school system as a
scholar. At the age of 14, he
enters the Ateneo as a boarder.
1861
- On 19th of June this year, Jose
Rizal was born. He was the seventh
child born to his parents. Rizal was
christened with the name Jose Protasio
Rizal-Mercado y Alonso-Realonda three
days after he was born. Jose Rizal has 10
siblings wherein one of them is boy and
the rest are girls.
1877 - In November Rizal composes a sonnet and gets acknowledgment for his composition from the
Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country, otherwise called Amigos del Pals. The acknowledgment
comes as a certificate of legitimacy and decent notice.
1878 - In June Rizal chooses to change gears in his instructive interests and moves into the clinical
courses at St. Tomas University. During this time he likewise composes two extra sonnets that success
him further acknowledgment.
1880 - At 19 years old Rizal composes one more sonnet for a rivalry where he ought to have won first
prize. Notwithstanding, he was not given this prize because of discrimination.
In December Rizal produces his first Operetta approached the Banks of the Pasig.
1881 - Rizal creates the commemorative medal in wax for the Royal Economic Society of Friends
centennial celebration.
For Dr. José Rizal, the well-respected national hero
of the Philippines, “the pen is mightier than the
sword.” Through his literary masterpieces, he
voiced strong opposition to the abuse of Spaniards
and conveyed messages that he hoped would
inspire his fellow countrymen.
He brought important
literary works that brings
him into fame. The most
famous among them is his
first novel, the Noli Me
Tangere where he wrote it
on 1887 and the El
Filibusterismo.
1892 - In August Rizal was confined on board a
boat going back to Spain. Rizal was accused of
injustice, subversion, and the arrangement of illicit
social orders. He was shipped off an island and held.
He educated for a very long time while being held.
He met a young lady named Josephine Bracken who
he needed to wed however the congregation
wouldn't give him a permit to wed.
1896 - His solicitation to go to Cuba
was endorsed. While heading to Cuba he
was captured and accused of scheme and
rebellion.
On December 27 he was sentenced to
death in a Spanish court
On December 30th he was allowed to wed
Josephine two hours before he was shot
by a shooting crew.
He was covered in a mysterious grave.
He wrote his last piece of composing called My Last
Farewell and composed a location to Filipino
extremists to set out their arms against the Spanish.
The location was rarely disclosed, however was
added to the rundown of charges against him.
1912 - On December 30th the ashes
of Rizal were transferred to the Rizal
Mausoleum and December 30th is
declared a national holiday in honor
of his memory.
José Rizal's life and works were
critical to those from the Philippines
who were looking for an end to
Spanish colonization.
He became the National Hero of the
Philippines. Until now His Life and
Works are being taught in schools and
universities. His sacrifice and
greatness brought peace and freedom
to our country.
