Year End Narrative Report
The COVID-19 crisis has forced education systems worldwide to find alternatives to face-to-face
instruction. As a result, online teaching and learning have been used by teachers and students on an
unprecedented scale. Since lockdowns either massive or localized may be needed again in the future to
respond to new waves of the infection until a vaccine becomes available, it is of utmost importance for
governments to identify which policies can maximize the effectiveness of online learning. This policy
brief examines the role of student’s attitudes towards learning in maximizing the potential of online
schooling when regular face-to-face instruction cannot take place. Since parents and teachers play a
fundamental role in supporting students to develop these crucial attitudes, particularly in the current
situation, targeted policy interventions should be designed with the aim of reducing the burden on
parents and help teachers and schools make the most of online learning.
September 15, the start of the online class here at Santiago Trillana Academy Inc. Same with the
teachers, most of the students are trying to adjust themselves. Student’s attitudes and dispositions are
influenced to a great degree by the support they receive from families and teachers and by the role
models they are exposed to. Different forms of support from families and teachers, including parental
emotional support and teacher enthusiasm, are found to be important for the development of positive
attitudes towards learning and can ensure that students acquire the attitudes and dispositions that can
maximize their ability to make the most of online learning opportunities. Yet, some families and
teachers may struggle to provide such support especially during this pandemic crisis because of lack of
time, insufficient digital skills or lack of curricular guidelines. But despite of that, we keep on moving
forward to promote the advantages of online class. We keep on providing and applying alternates or
different plan to improve the what we so called new normal. I admit as a student coordinator, this
situation is not easy for me and to my colleagues. Proper scheduling, patience and dedication lead us to
continue and improve the situation, the application of the synchronous and asynchronous became
more effective for the students here.
We can say that we already improve and adapt to the new normal life. Students are just fine on doing
online class every morning. Sad to say, there are also some incidents that students are no longer
attending online class. Consideration are the key for this situation but not all the time. Parents are
always updated regarding with the status of their children in online class. In parents and teacher’s
orientation about this online class, we already clarify some of the policy that we must implement about
the new normal situation. We try to remove those thinking that in online class, student will promote
automatically after this school year. As much as possible we apply the policy and guidelines of the
school with the help of advisers, prefect of discipline and guidance counselor.
School year are about to end, but we will keep on improving and providing just like a good start
that we have. The only problem we see I that the student is more distracted of what they’ve seen in
news, mobile games, etc. About this matter, the only thing that can solve this is to provide a stronger
communication and relationships with the parents. We will keep on moving forward for the sake of the
student’s future.
