displacement; an individual has to travel, using any type
of means of transportation (he might even travel on by
foot), but not all travel is considered tourism.

A situation whereby a guest who is away from home
is welcomed by a host where basic necessities are
provided.

N 1963, A UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE ON INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL AND
TOURISM RECOMMENDED A NEW DEFINITION OF A “VISITOR” AS “ANY PERSON
VISITING A COUNTRY OTHER THAN THAT OF EARNING MONEY.” THIS
DEFINITIONCOVERS TWO CLASSES OF VISITORS:
Tourists - temporary visitors staying
at least 24 hours whose purpose can
be: leisure, recreation, health, holiday,
educational, religion, sport, visiting
family and relatives and meetings.
Excusionists - temporary visitors
staying for less than 24 hours in the
destination visited and not making an
overnight stay.
