5 Tips for
Dealing with
Sensitive
Teeth
When after consuming some beverages and
foods or after brushing teeth, a discomfort
occurs in your mouth then we can say that you
are suffering from tooth sensitivity. A large
number of people in America have tooth
sensitivity and these are nearly 40 million in
number. Receding gums, eroded enamel and
tooth decay are responsible for tooth
sensitivity. Now I am going to share 5 tips for
dealing with sensitive teeth.
1. Do brushing properly –
A wearing down of the enamel can occur if you
use a toothbrush having hard bristles or if you
do excess brushing. As a result, tooth sensitivity
can occur in your mouth. The liquids, food and
air can affect your exposed teeth if enamel
wears down. For reducing discomfort and
sensitivity and for having a healthy smile,
choose the right toothpaste and the right
toothbrush for brushing. Curing tooth
sensitivity is not possible with desensitizing
toothpaste as it will just provide you relief from
discomfort and pain by blocking the signals of
pain.
2. Use a mouthwash of saltwater –
For getting relief from the tooth sensitivity’s
pain, rinse your mouth with saltwater. This will
also help in reducing inflammation and keeping
your breath fresh. For prohibiting the growth of
bacteria in your mouth, it increases the
alkalinity and pH level in your mouth. You have
to do this two times every day.
3. Use hydrogen peroxide for rinsing your
mouth –
By using a wash of hydrogen peroxide the
symptoms of tooth sensitivity can be alleviated.
You just have to rinse your mouth with it. This
mouthwash will also help in:
● Treating sores present inside the mouth
● Whitening teeth
● Preventing disease of gums
● Preventing inflammation
● Healing injured gums
● Preventing oral infections
4. Don’t consume drinks and foods that are
acidic –
Tooth sensitivity as a result of wearing down of
the enamel can occur if you consume acidic
drinks and foods. Some of these items are:
● Fruit juice
● Fruits that are sticky or dried
● Tomatoes
● Sports drinks
● Beverages that are carbonated
● Fruits that are citrus
● Pickled foods
● Coffee
You have to avoid eating these foods and
drinks.
5. Use coconut oil for rinsing your mouth –
By doing oil pulling with coconut oil you can
keep your mouth healthy and clean. There are a
number of benefits of this technique:
● It helps in sanitizing the mouth
● It produces saliva in the mouth
● It helps in moisturizing the gums
● It helps in preventing the growth of bacteria
Whenever I feel the symptoms of tooth
sensitivity in my mouth then I visit the dentist
nearby.
