GOD’S PURPOSE IN SCIENCE
Seeing Life Through the Bible’s Story
❖ Worldview: the overarching narrative that a person uses to see
and interpret the world.
❖ Creation:
➢ God spoke everything into existence in six days.
➢ God made man in His image.
❖ Creation Mandate: God’s command to Adam and Eve to fill the
earth and have dominion over it
❖ The Fall:
➢ All of creation was cursed due to Adam and Eve’s sin.
➢ Work became more difficult because of the curse.
❖ Redemption:
➢ God has provided an escape from sin through His Son
Jesus.
➢ Jesus came to Earth to restore Creation.
➢ We prepare for this restoration by living out the Creation
Mandate.
❖ Ethics: the study of applying moral principles to life
➢ Ethics tries to answer the question “Is this right or wrong”
➢ Biblical Principles: “What does the Bible say”
➢ Biblical Outcomes: “What are the results?”
❖ REVIEW!!
➢ What is a person’s worldview? How does it affect him?
➢ A person’s worldview is the big story that he uses to
determine where this world has come from and where it’s
headed. It shapes his beliefs and values and it will guide
him to think and live in a certain way.
❖ SO HOW DOES PHYSICAL SCIENCE RELATE TO GOD?
➢ Where did order come from?
■ The law of cause and effect: every effect has a
specific and identifiable cause, and for every cause
there is a predictable and definite effect.
■ God was the cause, and the effect was our ordered
world.
