Elementary Mathematics Grade 1 pp. 82-85 Materials: Real objects in boxes like stones, bottle caps, marbles (if available), etc., cutouts/pictures of toys, fruits, ordinal number cards (3 sets) etc. Evaluation worksheet, Crayons. Value: Cooperation and Patriotism III. Procedures A. Preparation 1. Review a. Counting real objects 1-10. b. Counting objects in the picture from 1-10. 2. Motivation Call 10 boys to fall in line. Let’s assume that you are in the Flagpole for Flag Raising Ceremony. How can we arrange them? What values are we going to show when we are singing the Philippine National Anthem? (Instill the value of patriotism) (Let them arrange themselves from shortest to tallest) B. C. Presentation a. Who is number 1in the line? Number 2? Number 3? Etc. Have them name the children by saying: (Name Pupil) is the number 1 boy in the line; he is the 1st boy in the line. (Name Pupil) is the number 2 boy in the line; he is the 2nd boy in the line. (And so on) b. Game Group the pupils into 3. Give each group a set of ordinal number cards. Objects are arranged in a line on the table. The teacher will say an ordinal number. Pupils will match the ordinal number with the object on the table. The first to match it gets a point. The group with the greatest number of points wins. c. Look at the word, M A G T U T U D L O What is the 1st letter? Is M the 2nd letter? What is the 3rd letter? Is T the 4th letter? Is G the 5th letter? What is the 8th letter? What is the 6th letter?
