University of the People Principles of Finance 2203 Learning Journal 1 Instructor: Jennifer Harris In this week's Learning Journal entry, I have been tasked to discuss the knowledge & skills I hope to obtain by taking the Principles of Finance course. Whether we choose to acknowledge it or not, money is a part of our day-to-day lives and gaining knowledge in this field is not just vital...it is a survival skill. Being able to understand and grasp the concepts that revolve around finances will work out as an added advantage and in most cases it can be a determining factor between failure & success. In my chosen field as a business owner, financial knowledge is important because it helps to project future downturns. As I continue on my path to obtaining a bachelor's degree I find courses that deal with money extremely rewarding, for example my last course was Basic accounting where I learned about financial statements, how they are important in understanding all the various transactions that take place in a business or organization. I would like to expand on that knowledge and learn more about money, the stock market and investments. How to pick the right investments that give a return on investment. So to sum it all up, I would like to learn money management skills so I can be better equipped to run my business successfully.
