Sodium Fluoride with the chemical formula NaF is a chemical compound with elements sodium and
fluorine.
It is a white or colorless powder that can dissolve in water.
It is one of the main ingredients of toothpaste.
Its function on toothpaste is to prevent and control cavities. It also makes our teeth stronger.
It's used for cleaning. Traces of it are present in the fluoridation of water to prevent tooth decays, and
one of the ingredients of pesticides and rat poison.
It can cause irritation and possible burns to skin and eyes.
When swallowed, it can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, labored breathing. It can
likewise result in fundamental harmful impacts on our heart, kidney, and liver. It can deplete calcium
levels in our body that can result in hypocalcemia or on worse cases, death.
It can also irritate the respiratory tract when inhaled.
