I think this project opens our minds into being a bit more curios of the everyday medications were taking not just because there are often cheaper similar medications out there but also making us aware of the underlying ingredients we are consuming. The knowledge gained from this experience can be applied to my future nursing career in many ways, the biggest to me is being able to provide options for future patients. For example, if I have a patient with no insurance and little to no income who needs to continue a treat but can’t necessarily afford. prescribed or brand name medications, I can point them in the direction of generic medications which are just as good but a bit more obtainable. If a patient is suffering from migraines and has been prescribed Sumatriptan for example but can’t pay for their prescription I could recommend Excedrin as an alternative.
