The Compulsive Leader I scored a 39 out of a possible 60 points which indicated likelihood for having some compulsive tendencies. McIntosh & Rima (2007) defines compulsive leaders as those who “need to maintain absolute order” (p. 105). These leaders are known to be very rigid and follow a set routine. They are also very critical of themselves and others. I agree that I possess some compulsive traits, but I did not expect for my score to be this high. Some of the traits I identify with are the following: rigid, high systematized family routines like our grooming methods, making sure that everyone brushes their teeth after every meal (especially when we eat out), and putting my son to bed at the same time every night. In addition, I also plan our vacations and make and a timeline of activities. Plus, I do not take unplanned days off from work just to spend time with family and friends-these days are set aside during the holidays or the summer when school is not in session. I knew that I had other tendencies like making sure that all the canned goods in my pantry are aligned in order based on the contents, sorting my clothes and shoes in my closet based on the season, style, and color. I also obsess sometimes about the smallest errors in job performance. Compulsive leadership aligns closer to my dark side. This became evident when I took the test in Appendix E after completing the exercises in tasks 4.2 and 4.3. I must maintain order and be in control or risk the possibility of chaos.
