Objectives:
This proposal seeks to introduce, demonstrate and make available safe and healthy
vegetable production at the household level. The proposal will be realized by growing
fresh and inexpensive vegetables in each backyard with the participation of individual
members.
At the end of the project, the members should be able to,
1. Dedicate efforts to gardening and to identify the importance of having a garden in
the household.
2. Improve skills for growing fresh and safe vegetables.
3. Achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural goods to ensure food security and crop
productivity, even at a low level
4. This project plays a huge role especially in promoting the different organic
vegetables, for growing fresh and safe without the use of any chemicals.
VI. Rationale
“Gardening adds years to your life, and life to your years”- William Kent
For schools it is an extraordinary method to carry out alternate ways of educating for
instructors and alternate ways of learning for students. Including environmental education for
garden. Hunger can be avoided if more individuals did limit scale farming and were less reliant on
huge farms. Individuals can work for themselves and make their own food from their own land.
Finding out about maintainability and acting naturally dependent is vital. It shows you how
excellent nature is. You start from a little seed and it turns into the food on your dinner table. You
can be your own educator, since that is a generally excellent approach to learn. On the off chance
that you practice, you will perceive what works and what doesn't work in your backyard garden.
Sustainability gives you a grip on over-utilization, environmental change and the climate.
The CWTS (NSTP) BSED ENG1A promotes Health and Green environment. It also aims
to strengthen the student’s active participation in the program and activities such as (backyard
gardening) intended to uplift the students’ value of commitment and resourcefulness.
Advantages of Backyard Gardening:
Growing a fantastic backyard garden has an advantage for us. Firstly, gardening is
physically good; gardening can provide us with excellent physical exercise regardless of our
physical condition or age. Secondly, it boosts our mental stability. Spending time in the garden
can aid to get away from the usual daily stresses. Pottering in the garden will help to relax and
reduces anxiety. Thirdly, we can save money. It can help us to eat more fruit and vegetables. It
also helps in conserving energy, and another way to provide habitat for different life forms. It is
also much easier – and more convenient – than to buy vegetables at the store. Fourthly, the soil is
good for us. A great deal of research has been conducted, and the findings suggest that one of the
underlying causes of an increase in allergies, asthma, and other human illnesses is that children no
longer play outside in the garden – at least not in more developed countries. It widens our
knowledge about nature and since we are in this time of the pandemic, gardening could be our
leisure time with benefits that can improve our skills in growing fresh plants.
Disadvantages of Backyard Gardening:
In this way, a planting requires a time commitment; it means somehow time consuming,
from the arranging stages through harvesting time. The greatest investment of time is required
when you first start gardening, but the work continues throughout the growing season. You will
got to weed water and fertilize the plants. In vegetable gardens, you moreover have to collect the
nourishment when it is developed. Sharing the work stack with family individuals or making a
neighborhood garden can cruel less of a time commitment for you.
Vegetable gardens are considered cash savers, but when it comes to gardening, its claim
costs that will fetch you more than buying the vegetables would. When you initially create your
garden beds, potential costs include a tiller, shovel, rake, hoe and edging material. After the
beginning venture, the annually costs are lower, but costs still incorporate seeds, plants, compost,
topsoil, fertilizer, mulch and back frameworks like trellises or tomato cages but limiting your
garden size can help keep cost.
Benefits of Backyard Gardening:
Backyard Gardening is one of the most common things or activities present in every
household, especially in rural areas. It is an act of turning outside space into a productive and
functional area for the family or as a home for plants, vegetables, and fruits. Backyard Gardening
brings us benefits in terms of the financial aspect, food, and health. Engaging ourselves in
gardening allows us to enjoy organic vegetables and fruits then make healthy food from them. That
is why when it comes to our health aspect, backyard gardening is helpful for it enables us to attain
a healthy body thanks to the grown plants and fruits that contains nutrients good for our health.
Hence, this is very essential for us to be healthy. Aside from that backyard, gardening also helps
us earn money. If we decide to sell our grown plants, we can earn profit and if ever the garden
becomes bigger and wider it means we can achieve greater income. This is very helpful, especially
to those low-income families. Besides, through backyard gardening, the family will be able to
spend more time and have a great bond with each member most especially if they will be doing
the work together. They will get closer to one another.
Growing your vegetables and fruits have a positive impact on the environment. For
instance, your organic plants do not need chemicals that can harm both human health and the
environment. This project is beneficial to the community. Having many people involved in the
local community garden will make people come together for a common purpose and create peace
and unity between them. Therefore, this project which is backyard gardening is essential for it
helps families, human health, and the community as well.
Methodology:
Concrete plan of work is the main method for the success of the project. To achieve that,
the group has the following methods :

The group is divided into subgroups in accordance with the plan of work (planting)
because we are far from each other.

With group chat communication, each member has assigned tasks so that the project will
work efficiently.

Each member will take care of each budgetary requirements or materials and will prepare
for the area during the respective backyard gardening.

The group or the team is responsible for making surveys in the area of garden because they
are also the residence of the project. They must take a look of the proposing seeds to plant
every day to see the progress.

Lastly, the group will do a documentation through compiling pictures throughout the
project in order to see the progress and to highlight what project is all about.
