Alternative connection to MidwayR
In case if users find some difficulties with VMware Horizon VDI, the MidwayR could be reached using Thinlinc
Bastion Server. Unlike VDI, the alternative option cannot be connected to the internet for data transfer. The access
to Bastion is granted upon users request.
Navigate to https://sde-bastion.rcc.uchicago.edu/ (ThinLinc desktop) in your browser and authenticate CNetID
and Duo authentication.
Click forward and select GNOME desktop

Launch the client application by typing 'tlclient' in the terminal after desktop initialization (you may need to wait a
few minutes for the client to become active).
Fill in SDE login hostname sde.rcc.uchicago.edu and CNetID password to connect to a session on a login node.

When finished, use 'F8' key on Windows or 'Fn + F8' keys on Mac to exit the full-screen session on the login node.
