ADJECTIVAL PHRASES Adjectives are words we use to describe nouns like large, pretty, cool, sour. Adjectival phrases are similar in that they describe nouns. However, the difference is adjectival phrases consist of a group of words. There are three forms: 1. Preposition + (Adjective) + Noun The boy with the green shirt, The cat inside the car, The house beside the eye clinic 2. Present Participle + Object That dolphin swimming near the boat, A baby holding the bear, 3. Past Participle in the passive form The bridge built by Chinese engineers, The wall vandalized by the gang COMBINE THE TWO SENTENCES BELOW INTO ONE BY CONVERTING ONE SENTENCE INTO AN ADJECTIVAL PHRASE. Example: The painting was done by the student. She is wearing a pink wig. The painting was done by the student wearing a pink wig. 1. Henry bought the shirt.
