III. Learning Activities:
A. Preparatory Activities:
1. Pronunciation Drill:
I remember the black wharves and the ships, and the seatides tossing free; And Spanish Sailors with bearded lips, and the
beauty and the mystery of the ships, and the magic of the sea.
2. Review Guessing Game using pictures:
Divide the class into groups
a. It's bigger than a dog.
It can bite. I can't fly.
b. It's fatter than a seal.
It can swim. It can't run
c. It's thinner than a sheep.
It can't run. It can climb trees
3. Motivation
❖ Show a picture of a man listening.
Ask: Guess the title of the story.
4. Unlock the words:
❖ Gossiping (talking about the behavior and personal lives of
other people)
❖ Cheating (doing something not truthful)
❖ Disease (an illness)
❖ Brain tumor (a swollen/mass of tissue found in the brain)
❖ Horrible (very shocking)
❖ Sighed (to take in and let out a long breath)
❖ Gasped (to breath in suddenly and loudly with your mouth
open because of surprise or shock)
❖ Apologetically (saying or doing something with regret)
❖ Scowled (looked at someone or something that shows anger
or disapproval)
B. Presentation:
1. Ask the pupils to guess the title of the story. Acknowledge the
group who guessed the exact or nearest title.
Ask: What is the story about?
2. Reading of the story by the teacher through episode by episode.
2. Analysis and Discussion after every episode.

❖ What does Hannah want Samantha to stop doing? Why?
❖ What are the gossips that Samantha is telling Hannah?

3. Developing Retelling Skills:
❖ Divide the class into four groups.
❖ Distribute a chart with a five finger illustration wherein
each group will answer. Let each group do the activity.

2. Where did it take place?
3. What happened at the beginning of the story?
4. What happened in the middle of the story?
5. What happened at the end of the story?
5. Practice Exercises:
❖ Ask a representative to retell the story in front of the class.
❖ Collect the activity sheets of each group and display them on the
Learning Wall.
