Based on the illustration above, I linked the concept of Globalization to various topics and sub-topics. Since we were to create our
understanding and meaning of 'globalization' I would first address the topics I listed and choose to associate them with each other and
explain why it is placed that way in the concept map. The first of the four main topics I would introduce is Government. Based on my
current knowledge, every country around the world would have its type of governance but some of them are using similar systems. This
is due to the influence another country has brought about throughout history. May it be through conquering lands or alliances. The subtopics I chose are factors of globalization related to the existence of a Government in a country. Accountability is associated with the
people working for or for the government. Capitalism is practiced within it, Monopolistic power exists within it, and acts of terrorism
is used against it.
Next up is Culture. I would describe it as the image and reflection of a country. You can tell what it is like by seeking deep and
discovering what makes it. Culture is shaped and constantly changing. This is why it is subject to influence from time to time. The subtopics that I choose are those that I think to affect one's culture in a place. Things like the environment, people's religion, the conception
of equality and inequality, and history with trade vs aid are some of the many things that affect one's culture. These things are affected
by many things including the involvement of other countries as well.
Another one of the main topics I would connect to Globalization is Technology. This has been a huge factor in contributing to the
development of globalization since it constantly advances and improves our lives. Technology has made our world smaller with the
creation of machines live vehicles that make travel a lot easier. Going from one place to the other didn't seem as hard as those in ancient
times where only the wealthy can travel. If traveling isn't necessary, communication is a must for connecting to others who are in faraway
places. Technology has made our world a better place because it has made it accessible for almost everyone now, made easier with the
internet. The internet has contributed to our lives in so many ways that some can't afford to live pleasingly without it. Branding and
business are one of the many things that are made easier with the use of the internet.
Following the idea of Business from the previous topic, I would relate it to the last topic in my concept map, which is the Economy.
Throughout history, a country's economy has heavily been impacted by the involvement of foreign entities. Much like the other topics,
this is heavily interconnected with the previous topics and subtopics. The economy reflects the state of the people in a country. Any
changes to the factors affecting it can contribute to a radical change in it as well. Businesses that play a major part in the development
of the economy. If they opt to do Outsourcing, they might become more productive because they enlist the aid of experts from other
countries. Which, in turn, create good relationships and connections that may benefit them in many ways. With connections established,
investments and trading come to light. Free trade laws slowly get implemented to decrease the barriers between two or more counties.
However, the negative effects that come with it like abuse and exploitation are bound to happen more or less. The increase of this may,
later on, result in poverty among the people in the economy.
Now, to summarize my concept map, ‘Globalization’ which is in the center of all the topics, is connected to each one of the topics and
subtopics. The basis of the connection has something to do with working or influencing and vice versa from other countries all over the
world. Connecting internationally is the foundation of Globalization. When countries start depending on each other in many aspects in
their lives and systems, entertainment, etc. Then there is the presence of globalization happening in their lives.
