INTRODUCTION
Genre means a category, the content, the style of an art , literature, or music. Movie, for example, has
four primary genres: comedy, drama, horror, and romance. All of these genres have particular
characteristics and functions which distinguish them from each other. It is also important for audience
to recognize the genre category they are watching in order to appreciate the message it conveys,
because they may have such expectations before watching it.
As for our subject Genre Studies, under Sir Anderson he had give us assignment which is we need to
do a video about history in movie in each country but only choose 1. For me I choose China as for my
favourite country to explain the early history movie. So in the video itself I talk about the first movie
that has been introduced in china and so on.
As for the first China movie that has been introduced which is Dingjun Mountain.
Dingjun Mountain was a 1905 Chinese silent film directed by Ren Qingtai, This film, made by
Beijing's Fengtai Photography, constitutes the first Chinese film ever made.
The film consisted of a recording of Peking opera superstar Tan Xinpei dressed in the character Huang
Zhong and singing some arie from the Peking opera of the same name. The play is a dramatised
account of Battle of Mount Dingjun (219 AD) and based on an episode in the 14th-century historical
novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
