Introducing T-Doble 3.4.2
Version 3.4.2 of T-Doble is now available. This point release includes
only very minor changes from v3.4.0. Generally speaking, if you are
running T-Doble 3.4.0, there is no reason to upgrade to version 3.4.2
unless you are experiencing difficulties connecting to the Doble
Database from within the T-Doble application.
Changes in version 3.4.2 are as follows:
•
•
•
•
•
Fixed some minor issues with the tdconverter.exe file converter
utility that is part of the installation package.
Added support for the TDR9100 instrument use of the autorun
special test mode.
Added a run-time switch option that prevents the user from
changing Doble Database login info. This option is intended for
use in locked-down DUC-Enterprise deployments.
Extended the login timeout period for connecting to the Doble
Database to reduce timeouts for users with large numbers of
files.
Added caching of filenames downloaded from the Doble
Database to avoid delays caused by repeated downloading.
T-Doble 3.4.2 supports the TDR9100, TDR900, and TDR9000
instruments.
Much information in this release note is applicable to all sub-versions of
T-Doble v3.4. Information applicable to this specific release will be
noted with the full sub-version number.T-Doble software and
documentation downloads are available at:

TDR9000 and TDR900 Preliminary Note
No firmware updates are required for TDR9000 or TDR900 instruments
to be used with T-Doble v3.4.

Before Installing T-Doble 3.4
.NET Requirements
The full Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (or later version) must be
installed before T-Doble 3.4 can be installed.
Windows XP
For PCs running the Windows XP operating system, make sure the full
.NET Framework 4.0 or later has been installed before installing
T-Doble 3.4.
Windows 7 and Later
In general, PCs with Windows 7 and later operating systems already
meet or exceed the .NET requirement, but some may have only partial
.NET 4.0 installations. The full framework must be in place before
T-Doble 3.4 can be installed.
.NET Installation
The full Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (or later) must be installed
before T-Doble 3.4 can be installed.
The .NET Framework 4.0 installer is available in two locations:

Tip: If T-Doble 3.4 Installation Is Interrupted
If you begin T-Doble 3.4 installation on a PC that does not meet the
.NET Framework requirement, the T-Doble 3.4 installer prompts you to
download an installer from the Microsoft website.
Follow this procedure for the quickest results:
1. Click Cancel to close the popup message.
2. Quit the T-Doble installer.
3. Use the local copy of the .NET 4.0 installer provided with
T-Doble 3.4.
4. After installing the .NET 4.0 Framework, re-start the T-Doble
installer using the procedure specified for your operating system:
•
•
Windows 7 and later on page 9
Windows XP or Vista on page 10
Installing Version 3.4 with Older Versions of T-Doble
T-Doble 3.4 can be installed concurrently with 2.x versions of T-Doble
software, as long as the older version is installed first.
Critical: Installing under Microsoft Windows 7 and Later
Operating Systems
If you do not follow these installation instructions correctly, you will
have to uninstall and reinstall T-Doble at a later time, possibly an
inconvenient time.
To avoid having to do this, follow these instructions:
1. Ensure that you have administrator privileges to install T- Doble 3.4
on PCs running Windows 7 or later operating systems. If you do not
have these privileges, get them, or have someone else perform this
procedure.
2. Right-click on setup.exe (do not double-click the .msi file) and
left-click Run as administrator.
Caution! It is critical that you select “Run as administrator.” Do
not omit this step!

The timeout limit has been extended when
connecting to the Doble Database from within
T-Doble. This fixes a problem where some users
with large number of files in the database were
experiencing timeouts before all of their file
information could be downloaded.
TD-692
File information downloaded into T-Doble's "Doble
Database" sub-tab is now being cached in memory
to eliminate long refresh times every time the tab is
accessed. Now the file information will only be
refreshed on initial connection or if the user clicks
the Refresh button.
TD-693
The column headers in French are now correct.
TD-684
The auto-connect feature of the built-in Doble
Database access has been disabled to meet
security requirements for some DUC-Enterprise
deployments.
TD-685

For ganged configurations: All of the TDR9100s to be ganged
must undergo a factory hardware upgrade, performed by Doble,
before you can use Event channel E6 on Unit 2 or Unit 3 in a
ganged configuration. TDR9100 instruments shipped with
T-Doble 3.3.1 or later have already received the upgrade.
TDR9100 instruments returned for service after February of
2014 should have received the upgrade. Call Doble Customer
Service to arrange an upgrade for an older instrument.
