Adverbs modify Verbs • Describes how, when, and where. • How – Machu Picchu sits silently in the Andes. • When – Many scientists now explore this city. • Where – Scientists dig there for facts about the Inca. • Many adverbs are formed by adding – ly to adjectives. • Carefully, silently, similarly • But not all words that end in –ly are adverbs.
