Antimicrobial, Disinfectant, Biocide, Sterilant, Biostatic and Odor Eliminator
Is based on advanced silane chemistry : the organo silane technology is
proven to be very effective
It is a is the next generation retentive “ anti-microbial ” technology that
works on all surfaces with the added benefit of applying through water
solution.
Traditional antimicrobials provide short-term kill of microorganisms.
Unlike disinfectants, sanitizers and bleaches, the water based
Saniguard-7500 forms a molecular bond to surface. The molecule
disrupts the cell membranes of harmful fungi and bacteria, inhibiting,
reducing and providing long-term, residual kill.
It can produce a durable, non-migrating antimicrobial finish to a wide
range of textiles. SANIGUARD-7500 can form an invisible and durable
micro-biostatic coating on a broad range of hard surfaces.
The physical, rather than chemical, mode of action of SANIGUARD-7500
does not affect normal skin flora, does not lose strength with use and
does not promote adaptative organisms (super bugs)
Sword That Punctures
The Cell Membrane Of All Microbes
SANIGUARD-7500 : Mode of action
Part I : The first part of the molecule is the silane base. This silane base is the antimicrobial
anchor. The antimicrobial is anchored by covalent bonds which are formed gradually through
hydrolysis reactions that bond the antimicrobial permanently to almost any surfaces and allow
for crosslinking and polymerisation with other molecules.
Part II : The second part of the molecule is the centrally located positively charged nitrogen. It
plays an important role in the active nature of the antimicrobial. Some membranes of microbes
are negatively charged; when in close proximity, the microbes are drawn into the active surface
of the antimicrobial and
Part III : The third segment is the edge that leads to blow in the offending microbes. This long
molecular chain acts like a sword that punctures the cell membranes of all microbes coming in
contact with it.
SANIGUARD-7500 : Mode of action
When a microorganism comes in contact with the treated surface, the
C-18 molecular sword punctures the cell membrane and the electrical
charge shocks the cell. As the microbe is further drawn into the
antimicrobial, it is electrocuted
Since nothing is transferred to the now dead cell, the antimicrobial
doesn’t lose strength and the sword is ready for the next cell to contact it.
The active layer remains intact, efficacious and ready for the next cell
that approaches.
Summary
When the antimicrobial is bonded to the surface of an object, it is ready for defense.
As the microbes come into contact with the “antimicrobial” surface, they are first punctured
by the long molecular chain.
The “positive-negative” attraction in between the positively charged nitrogen and the
negative cell membrane draw the microorganism even further down on the sword.
This modified cell can end the life of a microbe but the end point is the contact between the
negative and the positive charges : the cell membrane is electrocuted and blown apart
delivering inescapable kill
In addition, since this process transfers nothing from the antimicrobial to the cell, the
antimicrobial stands ready for the next “wave” and can continue to work at full strength and
definitely.
Applied in a single stage of the wet finish process, the
attachment of SANIGUARD-7500 to surfaces involves two
means.
First and the most important is a very rapid process, which coats
the substrate , with the cationic species (physics sorption) one
molecule deep. This is an ion exchange process by which the
cation of the silane quaternary ammonium compound replaces
protons from water or chemicals on the surface.
The second mechanism is unique to materials such as silane
quaternary ammonium compounds. In this case, the silanol
allows for covalent bonding to receptive surfaces to occur
(chemisorptions). This bonding is then made even more durable
by the silanol functionality, which enables them to
homopolymerize. After they have coated the surface in this
manner, they become virtually irremovable, even on surfaces
with which they cannot react covalently.

2. Surface view
3. Treated surface
We have 2 reactions:
1. The product forms a molecular BOND to any fabric
2. Product forms a film : crosslinking of the product
Saniguard 7500 : Solution Preparation : For exhaust & spray
Add one to three part of Saniguard 7500 to 97-99 parts of water
and stir the solution for 5 min before using.
Use the solution after preparation within 7 days
Do not use as hand sanitizer or spray on humans, animals and
avoid inhalation

Can be applied by:
Padding , exhaust , Soaking, Spraying , Fogging, Dipping, Brushing or wiping
SURFACE APPLICATION METHOD:
Clean the solid surfaces with mild detergent and water before spraying Saniguard 7500 solution.
Spray the solution on surfaces using a high-pressure mist sprayer/fogger only with dilution to
ensure the deposition of finer atomized droplets and better surface coverage. Before mist spray
check the effect and re-wetting on a small trial area before proceeding. If you experience a sticky
surface then increase the dilution and after misting hand mopping should be done.
For very smooth granite, marble, Kota stone, SS surfaces, and smoothly coated walls, application
with hand mopping is recommended.
High-pressure mist sprayer/fogger/hand mopping is recommended for exterior application & For
interior application fogger & hand mopping is recommended.

1. Analysis of application of saniguard-7500
Correct Application of SANIGUARD-7500 can be checked by two means.
1. Bromophenol. Blue indicator-indicates the presence of SANIGUARD7500 by a blue cast. If no SANIGUARD-7500 is present, no color will
form.
2. Phydron quaternary Test Strips QT-10 theses strips indicate the presence
of a quaternary compound. These can be used to determine the
effectiveness of the bath treatment. Use them as you would pH paper and
read the amount of quaternary compound, if any that has been left in the
bath.
2. To prevent yellowing of the fabrics where saniguard-7500 is used
To prevent the Discoloration or yellowing of fabrics it is necessary to control
the pH of the bath. Alkalinity may prohibit SANIGUARD-7500 from
attaching to fabric. PH of fabric should be 4.5- 5.5 to aid exhaustion.
Different Acids solution can be used for this process. The most common
used are:
• Acetic Acid
• Citric Acid
How to determine if SANIGUARD-7500 is present ?
Bromophenol Blue (BPB) stain test
Soak the treated substrate in BPB for 5 mins (0.04%
solution in Water/ Methanol 80/20 )
Rinse the substrate with copious amount of water
Compare the remaining blue stain on the substrate to the
untreated control and color standard (to be done)

Cost-Effectiveness
It is competitive in cost and a significant improvement over current offerings in effective
cost when potential for recontamination or cross-contamination are factored.
Currently, non-leaching anti-microbials represent the best available solution. Within these,
certain silver and copper-based chemicals have shown limited anti-viral activity,
discolouration and have been expensive. Nano- silver has not been evaluated for long-term
health and environmental issues.
Si-Quats have proven efficacy, non-mutagenicity and durability. Earlier versions of these
were limited in their applicability and safety because of solvent content. This restricted use
in mainstream cleaning and protecting regimens. Over the years, innovations in process
chemistry have allowed Saniguard 7500 to be diluted into stable water-based formulations.
This has allowed all of the efficacy, non-mutagenicity and durability benefits of the SiQuat chemistry with safety and eco-responsibility.
This allows Saniguard 7500 be easily applied as fabric treatments, protecting solutions and
surface treatments for contaminations discussed earlier such as cell phones. Computers,
tabs, scrubs, masks, medical textiles, PPEs, medical equipment’s, stethoscopes etc.
Durability:
Durable and continue to act effectively for several days to weeks to
months to life of the substrate (depends on application methods) – it
protects contamination vectors between cleaning regimens and
is durable enough to resist removal by these regimens be they
disinfection, sanitization or laundering
Non-mutagenicity
Does not create super-bugs by using a physical killing mechanism
and thus removing the poisoning cycle that leads to resistance in
microorganisms
Eco-responsibility
It is water-dilutable and has no volatile organic emissions (VOCs)
and have no adverse environmental impact during its entire life
cycle.
