This paper experiments with the sentiment analysis of Bengali song lyrics. The aim of this research was to design and develop algorithm for
recognizing the overall sentiment of Bengali songs from lyrics of respective songs. We found good results from our prototype system. The
performance of the system depends on the developing the negative and positive phrase patterns. If more phrase patterns are included the
performance will be better. Again, inclusion of sentimental word in the dictionary increases the performance of the system. We believe that
the proposed method is successfully applicable for the Bengali Songs for sentiment detection. Currently only document level sentiment
analysis has been carried out considering Positive and Negative. In the future, we want to carry out more different sentiment values like
Neutral/Sarcasm/Irony and find an efficient fusion method combining all these analysis sets, providing wide range hybrid system.
These experiments may help to improve the mood classification by providing more precise and accurate results with large range of input
dimensions.
